Hi there! I’m Destiny, the founder and creative mind behind Brass and Batten Design. I’m so excited to share a little bit about myself, my journey, and what led me to create this business that’s so close to my heart.
A Little About Me
I’m a West Michigan girl with a love for beautiful spaces, sandy beaches, and a life that keeps me moving. My husband and I share our home with three amazing dogs who always manage to keep things lively. Before diving into the world of home staging and design, I served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in the stunning landscapes of Colorado. The discipline, creativity, and attention to detail I learned there are values I carry into every project I take on.
How It All Began
The idea for Brass and Batten Design came to life after I noticed a gap in the market for intentional, quality-focused home staging in West Michigan. Too many homes were being staged with a cookie-cutter approach—mass-produced furniture and little thought to design or storytelling. I knew I could offer something different: a curated, design-driven experience that makes every home shine.
My Happy Places
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me enjoying life to the fullest. I’m obsessed with beach days—there’s nothing quite like the sound of waves and the feeling of sand between your toes. Hawaii holds a special place in my heart, and it’s my ultimate destination for recharging and finding inspiration. Back home, I’m often behind the wheel of my Jeep, heading to a volleyball game or exploring the scenic spots West Michigan has to offer.
